What is self-storage?
Self-storage is a service that provides individuals and businesses with secure, rented storage space for their belongings. Customers can store a wide range of items, from household goods to business inventory, in various-sized storage units.
How does self-storage work?
You rent a storage unit on a month-to-month basis. You bring your items to the facility, lock them in your unit, and have access to your belongings during the rental period.
What can I store in a self-storage unit?
You can store almost anything in a self-storage unit, including furniture, electronics, clothing, documents, vehicles, and more. Customers shall not place or keep in the Unit or Premises any explosives, flammable or combustible liquids, contraband, firearms, vehicles (except in outdoor/drive-up units specified by manager), environmentally hazardous materials, perishable products, food, pets, or any other goods, products or property prohibited by local, state, or federal law, ordinance rule or regulation. Under no circumstances may a customer or any other individual(s) occupy or reside at the Unit for any amount of time or use the Unit as a changing or washroom.
Can I occupy, spend time, take a nap, etc. in my unit?
Under no circumstances may a customer or any other individual(s) occupy or reside at the Unit for any amount of time or use the Unit as a changing or washroom.
Are pets allowed at the facility?
Our facility has a no pets policy. If you have questions regarding service animals or comfort/emotional support animals, please refer to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines and Frequently Asked Questions as well as the Massachusetts Laws/Guidelines.
What’s the difference between climate-controlled and non-climate-controlled units?
Our outdoor units including drive-up units are not climate-controlled which means heat and air conditioning are not available and the units are exposed to weather elements such as rain, snow, wind, etc. Climate-controlled units are inside the building protected from the outside elements where heat and air conditioning are flowing as needed to keep a constant temperature of 55°-85° depending on the season.
How long is a reservation valid for?
Unit reservations are placed on hold for 3 days. After the three-day hold, if you do not move into the unit, it will be placed back into our system as available.
How do I rent a storage unit?
You can rent a storage unit by visiting our facility in person or by reserving a unit online through our website. We’ll guide you through the rental process and provide you with a lock for your unit.
What size storage unit do I need?
Choosing the right size depends on your storage needs. We offer various unit sizes, from small closets to large garage-like spaces. Feel free to utilize our online Storage Calculator to determine the best unit space for your items.
How many locks can I have on my unit door?
Customers are permitted to always have one (1) lock on their unit doors. Double locks are not allowed and are subject to a lock cut and the lock cut fee applied to their account.
Can I use my own lock?
Yes, customers may use their own personal lock for their unit, or a lock that maybe provided by the facility. Customer locks must fit comfortably in the latch and easily be removed with a key and/or combination.
How much does self-storage cost?
The cost of self-storage varies based on factors like unit size, location, andamenities. We offer competitive pricing and often have special promotions. Contact us or check our website for current rates.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept various payment methods, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express & Discover. Debit cards with a major credit card symbol such as Visa/Mastercard are also accepted. Payments are due on a monthly basis through our auto-pay system. We do NOT accept cash or check payments.
What if I miss a payment?
Please refer to your signed agreement for complete details. Late charges are applied if an outstanding balance exists on the 5th day after your due date. An overlock fee is applied to your account if the above balance remains unpaid on the 10th day after your due date. If account balance is still unpaid after the above number of days, the Pre-Auction & Auction process begins.
Do I need an Insurance/Protection Plan for my belongings?
Currently, Tower Mill Self Storage does not offer insurance/protection plans for customers. We hope to offer this in the near future. In the meantime, you will be asked to sign a waiver form outlining this information with the understanding that you will be solely responsible for your items while storing with us. Please feel free to contact your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance provider for available coverage options.
Can I use my unit as a workshop or to conduct repairs to vehicles, etc.?
No, working within your unit to make vehicle repairs, updates, and/or using it as a workshop in general is prohibited and you will be asked to vacate your unit if this occurs.
Is there electricity available in my unit OR can I install electric service(s)?
No, we do not provide electric inside individual units. Customers may not utilize any electricity in the common area(s) or install anything in the unit/common areas, etc.
Do you offer RV, Medium/Large Boat storage or Parking Spaces?
No, we do not offer any of the above items. Small boats may be stored in the outside/drive-up units only. Contact our office for complete details.
Can I install shelves in my unit?
Yes, freestanding shelves not attached/affixed to the inside of the unit are permissible. You may NOT hang anything on the walls, doors, etc.
When can I access my storage unit?
Accounts in good standing may access their unit(s) 7 days a week from 6:00am- 9:00pm. 24-hour access is not available at our facility.
Is my storage unit secure?
Yes, we take security seriously. Our facilities are equipped with audio & video surveillance cameras, AI detection, alarm & monitoring system, gated access, secure locks, keypad entry system to ensure the safety of your belongings. You can also purchase insurance for added peace of mind. Coming Soon

Can I use your facility for vehicle storage?
Yes, we offer vehicle storage options for cars, motorcycles, ATVs, and similar size vehicles. Please contact us for specific vehicle storage details. We do NOT offer parking spaces and units CANNOT be used as a workshop.
Do you offer climate-controlled storage?
Yes, we have climate-controlled units available to protect your sensitive items from extreme temperatures and humidity.
Can I change the size of my storage unit?
If you find that you need more or less space, we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. Contact our staff to discuss unit size changes.
Do you have moving carts available for use at the facility?
Yes, handcarts are available for use at our facility.
How long is the lease term?
Leases are month-to-month, providing flexibility for short or long-term storage needs.
How do I cancel my storage rental?
To cancel your rental, simply notify our office 10 days in advance of your next payment due date. Staff will need to inspect your unit upon move-out to ensure the unit is clean and clear from items and debris as well as inspect for any damages. Make sure to remove all your belongings and return the unit in broom clean condition. If the inspection by our staff cannot be conducted during business hours prior to your next billing date, your account may still be charged.
